Random Poem


Flakes swirl abstract patterns on
The frozen windows that each
Resent being the canvas under the brush.

Winter’s art is accompanied
By whispers of wind’s temper
Where menacing storms stir fear in our hearts.

We curl under blankets
As darkness pools in corners
Of our cold and hollow home.

A lonely firefly glows
In the center of the room
Where only a wick traps it in place.

Maybe the burning firefly
Is but a small fairy here
Whose magic will grant us one wish.

We crowd together in warmth.
With everyone here, we now wish
To quiet this boorish weather.
