I've watched you
for years alone in the dark.
Never you knew
how i stared in the midnight light.
I was out on a march,
but always stopped for your sight.
You made my night

I've seen you struggle
while i waged my own fight.
You used to be so young
and so full of life.
Now you're quite old
and just barely alive.
I never changed.

I've seen the men
they've come and went.
I would of treated you well
you would of saved me from hell.
Now you've gone away
and would of followed you there.
I can't.

My curse is
I have to stay.
And that house on the hill
is so empty.
So I'll stand by your grave
just to say
I love you.
