I am feared and hated by the sun dwellers
Just because of my size and lack of hair.
I never chose my fate or who my parents were
Just like you I am at the mercy of the great
Eagle’s beak by who I am. I have
Been sleeping for over hundreds of years, at least
That’s what I’m guessing since so much has changed.
Even the sun dwellers seem taller and the sun gleams
Of their silver skin I would not have minded these
New sun dwellers, only they woke me up.
They woke me up with their lightening rally
Of color and sound that woke me up from my sleep.
If I could only scare them into silence then I could
Return to my miserable life and sleep.
I had no idea how to get into their lair so I just
Gave a great shove and it opened in a lot of small pieces.
The sun dwellers were all asleep by the time I got there and
I hadn’t eaten in so long so I figured a snack wouldn’t hurt.
Even though their skin looked hard the last sun dwellers
Tasted good so I had to taste them, and they tasted even
Better than before. I figured I would only feast on them when
They insisted on making the lightening rally of color and sound.
So every lightening rally of color and sound that erupts from
Their lair I returned to find the same situation and every time I
Feasted.
All went well until the strong sun dweller showed up and took
My arm when I tried to escape him, I did not want to fight.
The battle was short and extremely hard I think I was lucky
To get away but now I know how he fights. I have never
Had to fight a sun dweller before since they have never
Been able to fight back before.
Now I’m sitting here with one arm and I need a plan
To get back to the sun dwellers lair to kill
The strong sun dweller before he kills me.
If you ask me he is the monster who should
Lurk in my swampy caves so I can live
Above ground and be a sun dweller.
